Our client is seeking an experienced Accounts Manager / Bookkeeper to join their well-established legal practice based in the Perth CBD. This is a part-time opportunity working approximately 18 hours per week (10:00am – 3:00pm, three days per week, some flexibility.

This role will suit an experienced accounting professional who is confident managing legal Trust accounts independently and can work closely with legal secretaries and external stakeholders.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Managing the end-to-end legal Trust accounting function, including invoicing, receipting, and payment of file-related and business expenses
  • Preparing and lodging BAS statements
  • Assisting with financial reporting, audits, and external accountant requirements
  • Performing daily reconciliations across Trust Accounts, General Office Accounts, Reserve and Loan Accounts, and multiple business credit cards
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and reporting
  • Ensuring ongoing compliance with legal Trust accounting regulations and requirements
  • Processing disbursements including counsel fees, medical expenses, and other file-related payments
  • Working closely with legal secretaries to ensure accurate and timely financial administration
  • Managing accounting responsibilities independently with limited internal accounting support
  • Learning and understanding Actionstep processes and workflows to support daily operations

What you’ll need:

  • Minimum 10 years' relevant accounting experience
  • Demonstrated legal Trust accounting experience
  • Strong reconciliation and financial reporting skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to build trusted working relationships with legal and administrative staff
  • Experience using Actionstep (previously FilePro) and Xero Accounting software is highly regarded
  • A professional, reliable, and trustworthy approach to work
