Medical Typist

Our client is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Medical Typist to join their busy medical practice. This is a temporary position, ideal for someone with strong medical terminology knowledge and excellent typing skills who thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

What you’ll be doing:

• Transcribing dictated audio files into accurate medical letters and clinical reports
• Editing and proofreading documents to ensure correct spelling, grammar, and use of medical terminology (e.g., IVF, ICSI, OHSS, AMH, HyCoSy, Hysterosalpingogram, azoospermia)
• Maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with privacy laws and legislation
• Managing and updating electronic and paper-based patient records using systems such as Genie
• Liaising with clinicians, nurses, and administrative staff to clarify dictation, verify patient details, and resolve discrepancies
• Managing a high volume of audio transcripts, prioritising tasks, and ensuring timely distribution of letters to patients, GPs, and external specialists

What you’ll need:

• Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and pharmacology
• Fast and accurate typing skills (60–80+ words per minute)
• Exceptional attention to detail, grammar, and spelling
• Previous experience in a medical transcription or healthcare administrative role
• Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
